Home Town, not sure I know where that would be

First of all, I write this blog to explain my thoughts on issues and events or to share something about myself

I have long wondered how it would feel to be born in a city and grow up there, attend school and date your high school sweetheart from the same said town and it happens. I've seen it with my own eyes at dear old Poca High School

I was born in Madison West Virginia, a historic place known for coal mining and Daniel Boone and dreamed of one day being a Scott Skyhawk. Things changed in 1977 when we moved to Nitro WV. Though we lived in Nitro, the city was split between two counties. While I played little league baseball, went to the city pool and had many many friends form Nitro and lived less than one mile from Nitro High I would endure a hour long bus ride to attend Poca Middle and Poca High home of the Poca Dots where I felt like a complete outsider and even sometimes do to this very day

So, there is my dilemma. Where do you think I should list my hometown , Nitro or Poca?

  1. I had it the same way Mike, living in Nitro but going to school in Poca. When I moved away from WV, I always told people I'd lived in Poca, mostly because of the pride I had in the school and the conversation which it generated because of our unique nickname.

  2. Thanks Craig, there were a few of us in the same boat. We might have lined up opposite each other instead of being team mates. Lots of teams named Wildcats but only one Poca Dots

Btw. One of your comments is what got me writing the blog. Something along the lies of me always having something interesting to say. Also will have a sports blog named after my radio show xTalking to the Mike
