What have I accomplished after 46 years?

I must admit that I have been fortunate and led a fairly diverse and interesting life. I am probably best known for my accomplishments as a high school football player where won many awards to include Hunt Award, WV High School Linemen of the year, Morgantown TD Club High School Player of the year, Bally's first team All American(99 out of 950,000) and many more awards but I've always thought of other accomplishments as being equally important

I joke about wishing I had been in the band, well if I had been in the band I could still play a tune at 46 where the playing days are over. Interesting story about my non band days I might tell one day

I've worked as a journeyman machinist building nuclear subs and aircraft carriers which I'm proud of

I've worked as a lobbyist in Washington DC for a labor union, worked at a dog track, gas station, football scout, president of WV chapter of National Football Foundation , Assisiatnt Game director for the North South Classic,my own radio show and some other things over the years

I've been lucky enough to meet and or know many people over the years. Some of the more important that I cherish would be Earl Loyd, Sam Huff, Gunner Gatski,Fred Schaus,Mary Lou Retton, Bill Clinton, Fred Wyant, Walter Easley, Bobby Bowden any Veteran of our military and many many others. I may try and make a complete list as I'm sure I'm leaving off some on this short list

I've had a pretty good time up until a few years ago when I started having some problems that I won't get into except to say the surgery made it worse and now I live in almost constant pain. I tell this not looking for any sympathy but just so you know where I'm at

I was blessed with a Mother that means the world to me, a great sister and a father that although I never always understood, made me what I am. Without his push, I would never have accomplished the athletic achievements that I did

My wife Joan is one in a million, I love her dearly and don't know where I would be without her

My many friends, thank you. It has been wonderful to reconnect thru the miracle of Facebook to old class mates from dear old Poca High and team mates from years and days gone past

Thank you everyone for the kind words and especially on this my 46 birthday

I love you mom, thanks for bringing all 6 pounds 7ounces into this world.

Sincerely

Michael Vernon Dunlap II
